Little Red
My take on the classic story "Little Red Ridding Hood".
A fairy tale classic told with the same character, but with different roles. We follow Red ridding hood and
her unlikely friend the wolf and their strange encounters in the woods.

I started off with simple silhouettes when designing the character. At first I liked the more simple forms like 1-4, 6, 7, and 10. |
I made more detailed sketches after that in slightly different variations. I changed my mind later I started making designs more related to the silhouette 9. |
Characters in the Story
The Mother
For the beginning in creating this character I started with sloppy silhouettes. While developing a better backstory for the personality I wanted this person to be and how they would interact with the main character.

Needed to create a mother figure for my main character. I wanted the mother to be someone that cares an unkindly amount in her statues and looks. She is ment to put as much care into her own appearance than she cares to notice
her only child. |
The Wolf
He's like a lazy bum how only likes to drink, and sleep. He's the town's laughing stock. He doesn't live in the woods
but in alleys next to bars. Red riding hood, a little kid is the only person that doesn't see him as some kind of mistake. She hangs around him like he's a little talking puppy that needs care and attention. But to the wolf it feels like the opposite, he seems to be the only one keeping an eye out for this kid that gets in all kind of danger and mischief. Not even her high maintenance mother keeps track of her only child's whereabouts. |
The Grandmother
The twist! There is no axeman because the grandmother is the axe swinging wolf killer!
I doodle a buff old lady (not sure where the original doodle is) and thought it was silly and a little scary, but then I thought wait...That's pretty good.

She has really muscular arms and legs for running fast and swinging axes at your face. I also wanted to give her pig like facial features so its like pigs vs wolves kind of thing.
Axe designs for the grandmother
I wanted her weapon to take resemblance to the staffs sheep herders use. Just like I want her appearance to get just a little confused with the appearance of innocent sheep. But really more deadly and aggressive like a boar.
Trip to the woods
The secret family tradition
The ending I wont give away :)
